The Kecskemét Folk Dance Ensemble hails from the town of the same name, on the edge of the Hungarian steppes known as the Puszta. Its members, who average 22 years of age, represent the pastoral traditions of the Carpathian basin through a variety of shepherd dances. Their repertoire also includes energetic gypsy tunes to which the dancers clap their boots, the Ugrós dance dating back to the Middle Ages, and the Csárdás - Hungary's characteristic national choreography. In a country where rural life plays an important role, songs, dances, music and legends celebrate Nature from generation to generation.
